I have been baking cakes from ever since I remember. Asking my parents if they could buy me ingredients throughout the week when I was at school so I could bake something for my family over the weekend, this started off as a classic lemon drizzle which became a weekly occurrence made for my grandparents. I even started to get creative swapping the lemons to oranges and putting my own little twists on recipes. My passion grew and grew, becoming the designated baker for family birthdays, then branching out to my mums friends.

From school I decided to go to college to focus more so on Catering & Hospitality, I soon learnt this was my passion, the patisserie part that is. I gained my NVQ Level 1 & 2 qualifications. I then started working, this began in a small bakery, progressing into hotel work and afternoon tea, then onto London for 2 years, learning my skills in a at a cake company called Crumbs & Doilies. I then felt I had enough knowledge to leave London and start my own little cake side hustle. I still had a full time job starting in an Aesthetics clinic. I was there for 6 months before Covid then hit. This meant the clinic was closed for months, the positive to this was this allowed me to focus more so on my cakes. The orders came flooding in!

My cakes got better and better week by week, and my side hustle business became much more than that. I designed bespoke Fathers Day boxes during Covid, just WOW at the amount of interest I received! This for me was the turning point of when I could see this was going from a passion/ hobby to a possible full blown business. I was having to do collections from my family garage so it was all by the books with Covid!

Nearly 6 years later and here we are today, over 40 wedding cakes complete, even including my own. Based in the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire area, baking is what makes me happy and helps me put smiles on other peoples faces and memories which they can reflect back to the moment with a RirisBakes cake.
